Aaron Rodgers, the quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers, is known for dividing opinions in the sports world. Some appreciate his straightforwardness, while others criticize his tough persona. OutKick’s Craig Carton is among the critics. He strongly disagrees with Rodgers’ provocative remarks made on a podcast with Steelers teammate Cam Heyward.
Recently, Rodgers made headlines by criticizing ESPN’s integrity over their coverage of Dianna Russini and Mike Vrabel. Additionally, during the podcast, he mentioned unsettling comments about his former fiancée, Shailene Woodley, claiming she expressed a desire to be with another man shortly after their engagement.
“Mr. Narcissist himself, Aaron Rodgers, went on the Cam Heyward Podcast and decided that this was the right platform to embarrass himself,” Carton commented.
Carton pointed out that Woodley has not spoken publicly about Rodgers for nearly two years, questioning the validity and necessity of his claims. According to Carton, these comments highlight Rodgers’ alleged narcissism and high-maintenance personality.
Rodgers also made remarks about his past relationship with former NASCAR driver Danica Patrick. He criticized the relationship’s lack of intimacy and claimed Patrick was depressed after her retirement. He also alleged that he refused her financial help for his Malibu house, citing doubts about their relationship’s future.
Carton criticized Rodgers’ motivations for bringing up these personal matters, noting the absence of any recent public comments from Patrick or Woodley about him. “What joy do you get out of embarrassing Danica Patrick or Shailene Woodley publicly? It’s always about you, isn’t it, Aaron?” Carton asked pointedly.
In addition to his comments about his exes, Rodgers reportedly criticized former teammates Greg Jennings and Jermichael Finley, although he did not directly name them. Carton condemned these actions, asserting that Rodgers’ character is far from admirable.
“As great as Aaron Rodgers was…he’s a lousy person,” Carton stated. “And when it all comes down in the wash, would you rather be a great football player or a great person?”
Austin Perry, a writer for OutKick, reported on these statements, reflecting the ongoing debate regarding Rodgers’ public persona.
