Cubs Suffer Defeat Against Brewers at Wrigley Field

The Chicago Cubs faced a 5-0 loss to the Milwaukee Brewers on May 20, 2026, at Wrigley Field. Cubs’ second baseman Nico Hoerner slid into third base during the first inning. Initially called safe, the decision was overturned, and Hoerner was tagged out by Brewers’ third baseman David Hamilton.
Center fielder Pete Crow-Armstrong returned to the dugout without a hit, striking out in the bottom of the sixth inning. Throughout the game, the Brewers showed strong performance, leading to a sweep of the Cubs.
David Hamilton, playing third base for the Brewers, had an impactful game with a triple in the top of the seventh inning, contributing to his 3-4 performance. This run helped solidify the Brewers’ win and sweep of the series.

Cubs’ closer Daniel Palencia pitched effectively by striking out Christian Yelich of the Brewers in the ninth inning with bases loaded. Nevertheless, the Cubs couldn’t recover.
Ian Happ from the Cubs expressed frustration after striking out in the fourth inning. This defined a challenging game for the Cubs as the Brewers secured the win.
In the third inning, pitcher Edward Cabrera took the mound. However, the Brewers steadily increased their lead.
The game also featured a memorable moment with Mariachi Herencia de Mexico performing the Star-Spangled Banner as part of a Mexican Heritage Night celebration, marking the first time a mariachi band played the anthem at Wrigley Field.
