Dan Le Batard Criticizes ESPN and OutKick Over Ryan Clark Layoffs

Dan Le Batard recently sparked controversy with his comments on ESPN’s layoffs, which included NFL analyst Ryan Clark. Known for his outspoken views, Le Batard provided his take on the situation during a recent show.

Le Batard remarked on claims that ESPN and Disney are often criticized for being too ‘woke.’ He said, ‘All the journalists are out the door. Almost all of the Black voices expected to offer perspectives resonant with many Black audiences are gone, too. You’ll struggle to find Hispanic voices in leadership, leaving White individuals at the helm.’

The comments referenced OutKick, which previously reported the news of Ryan Clark’s departure. OutKick revealed they notified ESPN of their intent to publish, leading ESPN to pull Clark off air and provide the story to The Athletic first.

Le Batard criticized OutKick, describing them as ‘an institution covered in stains.’ He questioned their journalistic integrity, claiming the reporting was misleading. Le Batard did not provide evidence to support his criticism and did not respond to requests for proof about OutKick’s coverage.

“Someone inside ESPN decided to sabotage Ryan Clark at the end. They planned it for Tuesday and embarrassed him,” Le Batard stated.

OutKick responded to Le Batard’s statements, emphasizing their commitment to honest reporting. They refuted being labeled as dishonest, highlighting their role in challenging mainstream sports media narratives.

OutKick stated, ‘We question the consensus that Dan Le Batard often aligns with, exposing the nature of activism within media that he propels. OutKick represents the sports fan, contrary to the elite narratives many networks adopt.’
