Josh Ritter, a criminal defense attorney, discussed the Tyler Robinson death penalty case on ‘Fox & Friends Weekend.’ The defense claims prosecutor misconduct concerning media comments. Ritter also commented on the backlash against the Metcalf family after the Karmelo Anthony verdict.
Recent court filings reveal that Lance Twiggs, a transgender roommate and romantic partner of Robinson, was granted limited immunity for a recorded statement provided to authorities in April. Twiggs received ‘use-immunity’ for his statement to authorities on April 20.
Prosecutors aim to present Twiggs’ recorded statement and his interactions with Robinson during the July preliminary hearing, which coincide with the time of Charlie Kirk’s killing. Robinson recently appeared in 4th District Court in Provo, addressing the fatality case involving Kirk. The hearing took place on Tuesday, February 3, 2026.
In their recent filing, prosecutors detailed that on April 20, 2026, Mr. Twiggs provided a sworn recorded statement. He was warned of legal consequences for any false declarations, which could result in obstruction charges. The U.S. Attorney’s Office and Utah County Attorney’s Office granted him use-immunity, ensuring his April 20 statements couldn’t be held against him.
