Denise Richards Opens Up About Her Relationship with Charlie Sheen and Their Daughters
Denise Richards recently discussed her relationship with her ex-husband Charlie Sheen and their daughters during an appearance on Bunnie Xo’s “Dumb Blonde” podcast. Denise agreed with Bunnie’s view that their oldest daughter, Sami Sheen, serves as Charlie’s “karma.”
Richards explained that she has encouraged her daughters to have independent conversations with Charlie as they grow older. This sentiment was echoed by Bunnie, who noted that Sami challenges Charlie more than any of his children. Richards agreed, saying, “Oh, she does. She, out of all the kids, stands up to him the most.”
Denise also expressed admiration for Sami’s confidence, stating, “I wish I had her confidence when I was her age.” Despite sometimes wishing Sami would filter her words, Denise appreciates Sami’s fearless authenticity.

Richards and Sheen’s marriage lasted from 2002 to 2006. They share two daughters, Sami, born in 2004, and Lola, born in 2005. On the podcast, Denise described her daughters as opposites. While Sami has embraced a modeling career on OnlyFans, Lola is vocal about her religious faith on social media.
Denise compared their differences to her relationship with her own sister, acknowledging the diverse personalities within a family. “My sister and I are very opposite too. They don’t even look alike,” she observed with a laugh.
Reflecting on the challenges of raising her daughters in the public eye, Denise admitted to hiding many truths from them when they were younger. “I wasn’t gonna tell them the truth,” she said, referring to Charlie’s past behavior during holidays. Richards emphasized her desire for Sami and Lola to form their own opinions of their father, separate from his public image and past struggles with addiction.
Despite their tumultuous public divorce, Denise and Charlie have achieved a more positive co-parenting relationship over the years. “Charlie’s very… we have a great relationship,” Denise shared. Although their relationship faced many obstacles, she noted mutual respect and a shared desire for their daughters to know their father as more than just his celebrity persona.
Richards stressed the importance of maintaining this positive dynamic for their daughters’ sake. She concluded, “If he needs anything, I’m here. And, I think it’s important for us always to maintain a relationship that we have for our daughters.”
