Former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant commented on New York Knicks fans who pointed fingers at President Donald Trump for the team’s Game 3 loss. The San Antonio Spurs defeated the Knicks 115-111. A crowd, including Trump, witnessed the event. The Knicks turned over the ball 13 times and hit 45% of their shots, while the Spurs had 46% shooting and only eight turnovers.
Bryant tweeted, “That’s what you Knicks fans get for hating on President Trump!” He noted that New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani was also in attendance, yet rarely mentioned.
Trump received a notably warm response from the Madison Square Garden crowd, contrasting with his reception at an earlier college football event in Florida.
Bryant faced criticism for his remarks, countering those who implied he supported Trump. “Whatever personal problem you got with Trump… IDGAF!” he replied in a post.
Head coach Mike Brown of the Knicks expressed concern over a significant disparity in foul calls. The Spurs attempted 32 free throws, while the Knicks had 22. “The Spurs won the game tonight,” Brown stated, acknowledging their performance. Yet he questioned the fairness of the free throw attempts, highlighting the 24-to-8 difference in the second half.
