A new chapter for Portage’s parks begins with Doug Lang taking on the role of parks superintendent. His appointment was announced with enthusiasm by Mayor Austin Bonta, who emphasized Lang’s experience and leadership abilities.

Background and Experience

Lang, formerly the property manager at Indiana Dunes State Park, started his new position on Thursday. His extensive experience managing state park operations, including event handling and staff leadership, distinguishes him from previous superintendents.

“Our goal is for you to take a leadership role and for us to get out of your way,” Park Board President Andy Maletta expressed to Lang. Leadership and experience are valued traits for this position.
