Edible Candles: A Unique Dining Experience
A South Florida entrepreneur is bringing innovation to the dining table with an edible candle. Claudia Mosley, founder of CeraViva, has created handmade candles that melt into dipping sauces and dessert spreads, transforming any meal into an experience. Mosley emphasizes that the candle itself is not the product; rather, it’s the experience it creates for guests interacting around the table.
Handcrafted Flavors and Ingredients
Made with organic and premium ingredients, these candles are designed to complement a variety of foods. Savory choices include chimichurri, shrimp scampi, and parmesan cream, while sweet options feature raspberry cream, apple pie, and Key lime pie. Remarkably, Mosley ensures that her sweet candles contain no added sugar, maintaining a balanced flavor profile.
Encouraging Connection
Each candle aims to inspire people to set aside their phones and engage with one another at the dinner table. The product signifies more than culinary creativity for Mosley. Originally from Colombia, Mosley immigrated to the United States, built a successful business, and launched CeraViva with her twin sister.
An Entrepreneurial Journey
Mosley invests significant resources into her venture, including over $20,000 to secure state licenses, move production into a commercial kitchen, and develop a patented formula fit for shipping and refrigeration. These candles are available for $38 on CeraViva’s website, but Mosley’s ultimate goal is to see them become part of the restaurant experience, enhancing social interactions while dining.
A New Dining Trend?
The edible candle offers 20 to 25 minutes of melting time, during which diners can enjoy conversation before their meal. Whether this becomes a viral trend is uncertain, but Mosley believes lighting a candle could reignite families’ lost connections, leading to meaningful time together.
