Elon Musk’s super PAC reported spending over $800,000 in August 2026 to support Republican Senate and House candidates. The majority of these funds were directed towards races in Texas and Maine, where Republicans are defending crucial Senate seats.
America PAC’s August expenditures are likely the beginning of a larger campaign funded by Musk, who allocated over $100 million to assist Republicans in the upcoming November elections. In 2024, Musk was a major supporter of President Trump and other Republican candidates, spending hundreds of millions.
Expenditure Breakdown
The PAC’s spending list includes independent expenditures across several competitive Senate races for August:
- Texas: $247,595
- Maine: $170,224.29
- Ohio: $105,675
- New Hampshire: $91,458.50
- Iowa: $54,600
- Michigan: $25,605
- Alaska: $17,235
Additionally, Republican candidates in crucial House districts in Virginia, New York, Pennsylvania, Florida, and Wisconsin benefited from America PAC’s spending.
Political Conversations and Strategies
House Speaker Mike Johnson, during a campaign visit to Texas, confirmed meeting with Musk. He acknowledged discussing political strategies but refrained from disclosing specifics about Musk’s financial support for midterms. Johnson expressed confidence in winning the upcoming elections.
The disclosed expenditures were marked for “PRINTING,” implying spending on mail advertisements. The spending decision was approved by Chris Young, a GOP operative and former employee of Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency, who was recruited in 2024 to manage America PAC.
Digital Advertising Efforts
America PAC invested over $207,000 in digital advertising in states like Texas, Michigan, New Hampshire, and Maine, according to AdImpact and Facebook ad library records. Most ads remind voters about the importance of voting. One advertisement in New York highlighted concerns over socialism’s influence, cautioning that “if you don’t vote in November, socialism could declare victory over America.”
In the 2024 election cycle, America PAC spent over $239 million supporting Republican candidates, with Musk being the largest donor to any party, as per Federal Election Commission data.
Future Political Spending
In previous interviews, Musk stated he planned to reduce his political spending in the future, suggesting he felt he had contributed sufficiently.
