Emily Ratajkowski made a notable appearance at the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards, showcasing a unique personal detail. The 35-year-old model shared her experiences from the night through her Instagram account. The image carousel featured her dressed in a striking red-and-black outfit with pronounced open sides.
Ratajkowski’s eye-catching attire gained attention, but it was her manicure bearing the initials “RG” that offered insight into her personal life. These initials are shared with her boyfriend, Romain Gavras, a French filmmaker. Also telling was her VMA guest pass, highlighting her presence as “Romain Plus One.”
Alongside intimations of her relationship, Ratajkowski provided fans behind-the-scenes glimpses from the awards show. Her captions remarked on her memorable night with her group, including Gavras and artists Surkin and Yung Lean. In one photo, the model wore dark sunglasses and carried a small black handbag as she posed between production trailers.
During the event, Gavras received recognition for his directing skills, notably for the video “STORM starring Yung Lean.” This work was nominated for Video of the Year at the ceremony. Gavras himself earned a nomination for Best Direction, while Damien Jalet received recognition for Best Choreography.
The couple spent time together inside the Peacock Theater, as Ratajkowski supported Gavras through his achievements. Further tying her manicure to his work was a design echoing the poster of his film “Sacrifice.” Prior to the VMAs, the couple was seen shopping and enjoying themselves in Rome, marking ongoing public interest in their relationship.
Their romance first attracted attention in late 2025 when they were spotted together in New York City. By February, Ratajkowski had made it Instagram official, sharing a photo alongside Gavras. Reflecting on her dating perspective post-divorce, she emphasized personal growth over external validation.
Gavras boasts a diverse portfolio, directing music videos for artists like M.I.A., Jamie xx, and Jay-Z and Kanye West, earning a Grammy nomination along the way. His filmography includes titles such as “Athena” and “Sacrifice,” all part of his family’s legacy in filmmaking, being the son of Costa-Gavras.
Previously, Gavras had been romantically linked with singer Dua Lipa in 2023, further hinting at his connection to the entertainment world.
