August 24, 2026 – Three animal services officers in Loudoun County, Virginia had their hands full with a massive 1,500-pound male bison. The creature made his unexpected journey when he escaped from his farm. Officers dedicated six hours in an effort to return the beast to safety.
The bison took advantage of a broken fence to venture beyond the confines of the farm located in western Loudoun County. This area, situated about 50 miles from Washington D.C., is more commonly associated with its high number of data centers rather than wandering bison.
“After the 1,500-pound male bison escaped from a property, animal control officers spent significant time trying to coax him back home,”
The unexpected visitation by the bison highlighted the contrast between the technical environment of Loudoun County and the natural sights of wildlife. Officers remained diligent throughout the effort, showcasing their commitment to managing such unusual situations within the community.
