Jake Lang, a well-known far-right figure previously charged in relation to the January 6 Capitol breach, was arrested in Dallas for making terroristic threats. The Texas Department of Public Safety confirmed that Lang, 31, was detained on a third-degree felony charge after he arrived on a flight to Dallas. He is now in the Dallas County Jail.
Photos and videos placed Lang outside the Collin County courthouse during Karmelo Anthony’s murder trial. Following Anthony’s conviction for the April 2025 murder of 17-year-old Austin Metcalf, Lang allegedly threatened Anthony’s life, demanding a guilty verdict. Anthony was sentenced to 35 years for the murder that occurred in Frisco.
A video on social media reportedly shows Lang claiming his innocence, arguing he was exercising free speech. He stated his $1 million bail was part of an effort against protestors like him, a situation he termed “lawfare.” Efforts to reach his legal counsel have been unsuccessful.
This arrest follows several encounters Lang has had with the law. After receiving a presidential pardon for federal charges related to the Capitol riot, including assaulting an officer, Lang faced charges in Frisco for trespass and in Minnesota for vandalizing a sculpture with anti-ICE sentiment. His trial in Minnesota is upcoming.
Andrew Anthony, the convicted teen’s father, expressed some relief at Lang’s arrest but acknowledged ongoing racial threats following the verdict. Despite the conviction, Anthony’s family claims self-defense in the deadly altercation. The trial drew considerable public attention, with protests occurring daily.
Lang had organized demonstrations supporting Metcalf, which involved racially charged themes. Jeff Metcalf, Austin’s father, has urged against using his son’s death for racial or political manipulation, expressing forgiveness towards Anthony.
