A tragic incident occurred during a Goose concert at Madison Square Garden on Saturday, resulting in the death of a concertgoer. The New York Police Department (NYPD) confirmed the fatal fall on Sunday.
According to the NYPD, the victim was a 51-year-old man who appeared to have fallen from the upper levels of the arena bowl. Officers responded to a 911 call about an injured man at the venue shortly before 10 p.m.
Upon arrival, officers observed a 51-year-old male unconscious and unresponsive with injuries indicative of falling from an elevated position,the NYPD reported.
Emergency medical personnel transported the victim to NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue, where doctors pronounced him dead.
Reports from Fox 5 New York indicate that the fall occurred in the 300 level section of Madison Square Garden. This section includes the arena’s balcony and upper-tier seating located high above the lower sections. Police stated the man was attending the concert with his wife.
The incident unfolded during the second night of the band’s two sold-out concerts at the venue. Goose, featuring members Rick Mitarotonda, Trevor Weekz, Peter Anspach, and Cotter Ellis, expressed their deep sorrow following the event. They extended their condolences to the victim’s family and thanked emergency services and venue staff for their support.
MSG Entertainment, managing the venue, released a statement expressing sadness over the tragedy while they awaited ongoing police investigations. A spokesperson conveyed their sympathy for the family and friends of the deceased fan.
Despite the incident, Goose’s next concert is planned for Sunday night at SummerStage in Central Park and is sold out. The band’s tour listings confirm this upcoming event.
