FBI Investigates Ransom Notes in Nancy Guthrie Kidnapping Case
The FBI is actively engaged in the investigation of ransom notes related to the mysterious disappearance of Nancy Guthrie. This case, now spanning over six months, has attracted significant attention. Authorities have received ransom demands, some real and others fraudulent. This situation has exacerbated the distress faced by Guthrie’s family. Tucson’s Pima County Sheriff’s Department recently made public two ransom notes, hoping that someone might recognize the unique linguistic style of the author, which suggests they were penned by the same individual.
The authenticity of these notes remains unverified. Savannah Guthrie, the daughter of Nancy and a co-host on “Today,” believes the notes might be legitimate based on available information. Investigators have yet to dismiss them completely.

The notes contain references to the crime scene, such as details about Guthrie’s Apple Watch and a smashed floodlight in her backyard, information that was not publicly available at the time. Jason Pack, a retired FBI negotiator following the case, notes that knowledge of these details suggests familiarity with Guthrie’s home but not necessarily more specific knowledge.
Pack also remarks that the writer seems to be a native English speaker and possibly someone accustomed to business communication due to the language used in the notes.
The FBI has released images from Nancy Guthrie’s Nest doorbell camera, recovered during the investigation. It remains unclear if these show the same individual.
Authorities request public assistance in identifying a masked figure captured in these videos around Guthrie’s front steps on two separate occasions. They urgently ask anyone who has noticed behavioral changes or odd patterns, such as nervousness, changes in appearance, or other deviations from normal behavior, to come forward.
