Fiery Surveillance Video Reveals Alleged Anti-ICE Arson Attack in NYC

Federal prosecutors unveiled surveillance footage showing a suspected arson incident at the Jacob K. Javits Federal Building in New York City. The building houses agencies including the FBI and ICE. The video allegedly captures Andrew Arrabaca, wearing camouflage pants and a helmet, staging the attack.

Alleged Attack Details

Arrabaca, 43, originally from Poughkeepsie, New York, reportedly launched fireworks at 26 Federal Plaza, then poured gasoline on the entrance steps and ignited it. Authorities report he is an ex-U.S. Army veteran accused of an “anti-government” attack.

“He is an anti-American, anti-government extremist,” stated James Barnacle of the FBI New York Field Office.

Video Evidence

The video shows a man believed to be Arrabaca pulling a cart with an anti-ICE banner. He sets fireworks in motion toward bystanders and appears with a BB or pellet gun before pouring gasoline and setting it afire. Investigators noted he threw a box containing additional fireworks into the flames.

Impact and Arrest

Federal officers arrived swiftly and apprehended Arrabaca. The attack reportedly injured three individuals. One person suffered a head injury from explosive debris.

Arrabaca allegedly carried several weapons, including axes, a hammer, a machete, and knives. Authorities discovered more fireworks and anti-ICE materials.

Motives and Charges

According to the criminal complaint, Arrabaca expressed anti-government beliefs, claiming government authorities wrongfully harmed people. He targeted the staircase upon learning it led to a bustling entrance.

Records indicate Arrabaca registered as a Democrat, tied to the left-wing Working Families party. While Arrabaca lacks a prior criminal record, the FBI reiterated the federal building is a frequent extremist target and is among Manhattan’s most secure sites.
