Fireball Causes Alarm Along the East Coast
This week, loud booms startled residents along the East Coast, with significant events occurring in both Boston and South Carolina. A fireball was responsible for the commotion in Boston on Saturday, as confirmed by NASA.
Nasa detailed that the fireball reached an impressive speed of up to 75,000 miles per hour as it entered the Earth’s atmosphere. It broke apart approximately 40 miles above the Massachusetts-New Hampshire border. The energy unleashed during this disintegration was similar to that of 300 tons of TNT, explaining the noise that alarmed many locals. Notably, this event wasn’t part of any meteor shower.
Prior to official clarification, Boston-area residents and those in Rhode Island speculated widely on social media, suggesting scenarios like a nuclear strike or alien visitation. Rich Sauro from Medfield, Massachusetts, was among those surprised. While attempting to nap, he heard an unprecedented sound from his second-floor room, challenging his expectation of a quiet afternoon.
The incident followed another mysterious boom in South Carolina earlier that week. However, the source of that noise remains unidentified.
