Former Fundraiser Alleges Kamala Harris Poached Biden’s Donors

Former Democratic fundraiser Lindy Li has switched her party affiliation, citing unheeded warning signs about President Joe Biden’s performance in the 2024 election. She alleges that Kamala Harris was positioning herself to attract Biden’s donors just days before he decided to drop out of the race, despite publicly affirming his capability to win.

Li claims Harris avoided criticizing Biden and imposed a rule on her staff to refrain from discussing her potential nomination. According to Li, this was part of Harris’s strategy to secure Biden’s endorsement. Li shares these insights in her book, “Unburdened,” where she discusses the behind-the-scenes realization within Biden’s inner circle about the impending halt of his campaign even before it occurred.

Li, who had high profile involvement with the Democratic National Committee (DNC) and fundraised for both Biden and Harris, revealed insider knowledge of the silence among Democratic figures who foresaw Biden’s campaign struggles. She detailed how Harris proactively engaged with donors, indicating her readiness to lead the party forward.

“I was on the call,” Li said, “Harris would host calls with donors, express support for Biden, and claim alignment with him while simultaneously courting those donors.”

Li recalls a specific donor call where Harris asserted her allegiance to Biden, two days before Biden announced he would not seek reelection. The call took place on July 19, 2024, according to Li, in which Harris insisted Biden would remain in the race, misleading some of the party’s major donors.

On July 21, Biden declared he would not run for reelection. Following that, Li describes Harris’s swift actions to consolidate support within the party, strongly suggesting Biden’s endorsement. She was flattering people left and right, quickly gaining ground and implying Biden’s endorsement, Li stated. Her memoir reveals Biden’s initial reluctance to endorse Harris immediately, with his endorsement not announced until later that day.

Despite Harris’s attempts to back Biden’s candidacy, Li remarks that some donors were skeptical. She explains that in donor group chats, the reaction was one of frustration. Wealthy donors expressed their belief that they were misled about Biden’s condition, finding the situation “insulting.”
