French Security Forces Prepare for New Protests

Businesses and dining establishments throughout Paris closed in preparation for the protests. Cultural sites like the Louvre also remained shut for the day.

As of October 24, 2026, at 10:25 a.m. EDT, police maintained a strong presence at Place de la Bastille in Paris.

The French government took significant measures to manage fresh protests on Saturday. They aimed to avoid a repeat of the chaos seen the previous weekend.

Over 70,000 police officers, with support from military troops, spread across cities including Paris and Marseille. Demonstrators gathered under the watchful presence of drones and helicopters.
