Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler, known as the tag team FTR, have announced a break from All Elite Wrestling (AEW). They shared the news on Saturday, highlighting their need for rest after a challenging period in the ring.
FTR recently faced Adam Copeland and Christian Cage in an I Quit match at the Double or Nothing event. This match resulted in their third reign as AEW World Tag Team Champions coming to an end. Since then, they have not appeared on AEW programming.

In a detailed Instagram post, Harwood explained their need to step back. He mentioned that since 2014, under various names including The Revival and FTR, they have maintained an intense schedule.
“Physically & mentally, we both became exhausted,” he wrote. “I’ve fought through multiple injuries including three hematomas, a bicep tear, a labrum tear, and shoulder issues.”
For the first time in over a decade, they decided to take a personal break. Harwood expressed uncertainty about their return, noting the time would be spent with their families.

Though they are taking a break from AEW, FTR will still appear in Kentucky at the end of August for a match against Ken Anderson and Doc Gallows. Until then, Harwood plans to enjoy a vacation in Hawaii.
Wheeler, in a recent interview, mentioned their interest in New Japan Pro-Wrestling’s (NJPW) World Tag League. He expressed a desire to participate in the league despite scheduling challenges.
“We’ve accomplished almost everything else,” Wheeler said. “I would love to at least try a World Tag League once.”

FTR has been recognized as one of the top tag teams in professional wrestling, securing three AEW tag team titles over seven years. Their break marks a significant moment for the duo as they prioritize health and family.
