Prada’s Latest Collection at Milan Fashion Week
Milan hosted a captivating show during its Fashion Week, unveiling Prada’s latest collection designed for everyday wear. Creative directors Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons presented jeans-inspired basics reimagined in leather and technical fabrics, aiming to create menswear that resonates with people on the street, not solely fashion elite.
The New Prada Look
The upcoming spring and summer collection showcases slim, cropped jackets and five-pocket trousers, complemented by timeless blazers or leather blousons. Despite the denim inspiration, Prada personally hasn’t worn jeans, while Simons recently rekindled his interest in them after years preferring wool trousers.
The collection features luxurious leather in monochrome shades such as antique white, gray, burgundy, and turquoise, all set to rock guitar sounds on the runway. Some pieces utilize transparent white technical fabric suited to Europe’s heatwave, while only a few final looks incorporate actual denim.
Wardrobe Accents
Cropped shirts and knitwear vests displayed geometric patterns, paired with contrasting silk scarves. The accessories were minimal, consisting of colorful pouches worn at the waist and pointy shoes with Velcro straps completing the ensembles.
“We sought a universal collection and wanted to avoid unnecessary designs,” Prada stated, criticizing prevalent runway trends.
Fashion Reconnection
Simons emphasized reconnecting fashion with authentic street style, citing historical fashion ideas emerging from everyday life rather than luxury runways.
“The silhouettes are clear, vertical, simple, sharp. They are peaceful, hopeful,” Simons remarked. “This collection challenges traditional perceptions of luxury fashion.”
The presentation took place in a simple showroom with transparent seating, ensuring everyone had a front-row view. The occasion attracted notable figures like NBA star Anthony Edwards, Troye Sivan, K-pop group ENHYPEN, and actor Louis Partridge.
Crowds endured the summer heat, eager to glimpse their favorite celebrities.
