George Clooney has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Presley Gerber. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, the 65-year-old actor, a close friend of Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber, discussed the family’s profound grief. Clooney said, “I don’t think we’re even in the position of being able to talk about it.” He described the loss as “one of the most devastating things” to happen to the family, adding, “as you can imagine, it’s the worst thing that could ever happen to a family.”
Presley passed away on September 20 at a rehabilitation facility in Santa Monica. He was 27 years old. Records from the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner confirmed his death. On September 19, Presley reportedly checked into the Resolutions Living facility.
Clooney is known for his long-standing friendship with the Gerber family. He co-founded Casamigos Tequila with Rande Gerber and was affectionately known as “Uncle George” by the Gerber children.
After Presley’s death, Clooney and his wife, Amal, were seen arriving at Kaia Gerber’s home in Los Angeles. Sources close to the family told The Daily Mail that Clooney maintained a close relationship with Presley and often communicated with him. “George would spend hours talking to Presley,” a source noted. “George is the nicest guy in the world and would do anything to help Rande’s family.”
Clooney offered advice to Presley after his 2018 DUI. He reportedly advised him, “Don’t do that, it’s not smart. Be careful.” In later years, Clooney shared supportive messages like, “I am here for you.”
Presley, months before his passing, shared his plans on Instagram to undergo an “ibogaine flood dose,” a psychedelic treatment, at a wellness clinic in Cancún, Mexico. In his post, he admitted feeling “absolutely terrified” about the experience. He wrote, “letting go of control didn’t come easy,” but believed “there was something bigger than me guiding it.”
Presley also mentioned that he was “praying it’s the last time” he would need to undergo such treatment. His words reflected a hope of overcoming personal struggles he had been facing.
