Halle Berry is taking a break in Fiji as she nears her 60th birthday. At 59, the actress has shared several photos on Instagram, showcasing tranquil mornings, relaxation by the pool, and evening walks along the beach.
One image captures Berry by the shoreline, wearing an animal-print cover-up over black lace lingerie. The black-and-white wrap has wide sleeves and tassel details, while her short hair blows gently in the breeze.
Berry’s Instagram post captures her silhouette beneath sheer fabric on a daybed. The sun sets behind the fabric, highlighting palm trees, an infinity pool, and the ocean beyond. In another photo, Berry lounges poolside in a gold bikini, a wide-brimmed straw hat resting across her torso. Her arm stretches across the deck, displaying rings and stacked bracelets.
Through a glass window, a reflective photo shows Berry relaxing in a bathtub, with the ocean and palm trees mirrored across the glass. Berry turned 60 on August 14.
The actress seems to embrace the slower pace of island life. In a light-hearted post, she joked, “We got drunk last night, and still drunk today.” This vacation comes as she reflects on her upcoming milestone and challenges perceptions of aging.
During a July appearance on the “Making Space” podcast with Hoda Kotb, Berry shared that 60 feels different than she expected. “When I thought of 60, it felt old,” she mentioned. “Now that I am 60, it doesn’t feel old at all. This is 60, and that’s not so bad.”
Berry also reflected on how she feels more comfortable and confident. “I feel really great,” she said. “I think better than I have in a long time. I feel more of myself.” She noted that aging allows her to focus less on others’ expectations. “You do stop managing everybody’s expectations,” she explained. “You realize you’re often the oldest in the room, and that carries some weight.”
Berry rejected the notion that reaching a certain age should mean career retirement. People often ask if she plans to continue making movies. “Why should I not?” she responded. “Why should I quit and just be on a permanent vacation?”
Berry believes meaningful work provides purpose and connection. “Working keeps us young,” she stated. This belief is something she imparts to her 18-year-old daughter, Nahla. “Choose what you love so retirement never feels like the goal,” she advises. “It keeps us connected to life and others.”
