Hasan Piker Faces Criticism Over Remarks About Politician’s Wife
Hasan Piker is under fire after comments about the wife of Rep. Brandon Gill, R-Texas. Piker’s remarks came in response to Gill attacking Piker on social media over an interview. In the Axios interview, Piker said that the U.S. had committed more terror acts globally than al Qaeda.
Gill criticized Piker on X, stating, “Hasan Piker is why we need to end birth tourism. He was born in America to Turkish nationals, raised in Turkey with anti-Western views, and now works to weaken America.” Piker replied pointedly, “your wife is indian.”
Piker’s comments sparked outrage from Gill’s allies, including his father-in-law, filmmaker Dinesh D’Souza. D’Souza responded, “She’s Christian, born in America with a white mother. Show us a picture of your family?”
Gill defended his wife, saying, “My wife is an American, born to American citizens, deeply loving our nation. You, born to foreign invaders, work to transform America into a third world culture and advocate communism while living in luxury.”
Rep. Riley Moore, R-W.Va., added, “Wrong. She’s patriotic, and you’re a terrorist sympathizer who hates and wants to destroy this country.” Another user criticized Piker’s alleged racist remark. Internet Accountability Project attorney Will Chamberlain termed Gill’s wife an “American patriot” contrasting Piker as a “Turkish adversary.”
Alex Bruesewitz, aligned with Trump, noted Piker would never understand the issue. In defense of Piker, Adam Kinzinger, R-Ill., criticized D’Souza’s reference to racial identity, calling it peculiar.
