Hayden Panettiere’s Tragic Death: A Closer Look
The Greenville County Coroner officially revealed that 36-year-old actress Hayden Panettiere passed away due to an accidental overdose of fentanyl and other substances. The shocking news from South Carolina was covered extensively by Jonathan Hunt, Fox News chief correspondent.
Disturbing details emerged from a 911 call recorded during Panettiere’s final moments. Zach Hickerson, the brother of her on-and-off boyfriend, desperately attempted CPR after finding her unresponsive on August 16 at a South Carolina apartment. ABC News and CBS News gained access to the audio. The call lasted seven minutes, during which Zach administered CPR while Brian Hickerson gave her Narcan, an emergency treatment for opioid overdoses.
Zach found Panettiere and his brother unconscious upon returning from church. He told the operator, “He woke up, and his girl … she’s unconscious.” When asked, he confirmed she was not breathing. The operator guided him through emergency CPR instructions as help was on the way.
Zach continued CPR efforts until medical personnel arrived. Unfortunately, resuscitation attempts were unsuccessful. Panettiere’s time of death was 2:32 p.m. The coroner’s report listed fentanyl, 4-ANPP, alprazolam, methocarbamol, and quetiapine as the substances responsible.
The Greenville County Coroner and City Police conducted a joint investigation. Panettiere was staying temporarily at the Greenville residence. According to the coroner, no trauma signs that could have contributed to the death were found during autopsy.
Panettiere was known for portraying Claire Bennett in the popular NBC series “Heroes” from 2006 to 2010. Her sudden passing highlights the serious nature of the current fentanyl crisis, a concern voiced by experts including a Stanford psychiatrist.
Brian Hickerson’s brother confirmed their relationship status with the police. They had broken up briefly in 2022, rekindling their romance in 2023. The DEA is collaborating on the investigation. This death marks a grievous moment for family, friends, and fans alike.
