Reducing the time spent sitting daily could lower cancer risk. Recent research highlights the potential benefits of simply standing up or engaging in brief physical activities such as jogging on stairs.
Engaging in short bursts of movement, like jogging up stairs for three minutes or standing from your desk for thirty minutes, may decrease the risk of specific cancers by up to 7 percent. This finding stems from a new study examining the relationship between daily movement patterns and cancer risk.
The study analyzed the impact of sedentary behavior and identified 13 types of cancer where reduced sitting time could be beneficial. Prioritizing active behaviors over prolonged sitting may become a simple yet effective strategy in cancer prevention.
The research emphasizes the importance of incorporating physical activity into daily routines. Even minor changes such as standing periodically during work or opting for stairs can contribute to a significant reduction in cancer risks.
