ICE Collaborates with Local Officers for Immigration Arrests
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is increasingly turning to local officers to assist with arrests of unauthorized immigrants. A recent observation by The Washington Post revealed how Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers actively participate in detaining individuals without proper documentation.
In Eufaula, Oklahoma, a Highway Patrol trooper was seen on duty along Highway 69, engaging with a motorist stopped for speeding. The officer had verified the driver’s information with ICE officials. Following this check, the trooper proceeded to arrest the motorist.
This collaboration highlights the ongoing intersection between local law enforcement and federal immigration authorities. It raises questions about the role local police play in enforcing immigration policies and the strategies ICE employs in its operations.
