Impact of Tuesday’s Storm on Northwest Indiana Transportation

Tuesday’s storm significantly disrupted public transportation in Northwest Indiana. All services managed by the Gary Public Transportation Corp., including the Access219 paratransit service, ceased operations for Wednesday.

The Northern Indiana Commuter Transportation District announced that the South Shore Line would run on a ‘significantly limited schedule’ for that day. Passengers were cautioned to expect major delays and increased travel times on all trains due to ongoing repairs and power restoration efforts. Further cancellations might occur.

There is a restricted shuttle service available between Hammond Gateway and Munster/Dyer on the Monon Corridor.
