Incident in Florida Involving Federal Immigration Authorities

A man fleeing from federal immigration authorities was struck and killed by a truck on Tuesday. This occurred in St. Augustine, Florida, as reported by the Department of Homeland Security to Fox News Digital. The 28-year-old Mexican citizen was among four people who fled from a vehicle during an encounter with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) agents.

The group was stopped in a gas station parking lot at around 6:45 a.m. All four individuals fled on foot. One of them was hit by an oncoming semi-truck while crossing a busy road and was pronounced dead on the scene. The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) confirmed that the pedestrian sustained fatal injuries in the right lane.

The truck driver, a 64-year-old man, stopped immediately and attempted to assist the injured man. FHP is currently investigating the incident further.

This event is part of a series of incidents involving people fleeing or encountering ICE agents recently. In Texas, DHS reported a man was shot and killed after allegedly attempting to ram agents with his vehicle. In another case in Maine, a man was shot and killed while inside a vehicle.

Following the incident on Tuesday, the Trump administration instructed ICE agents to halt most vehicle stops nationwide. This directive signals a significant change in policy.
