Indiana Farm Faces Backlash Over Corn Maze Tribute to Charlie Kirk
An Indiana family farm recently faced backlash over its corn maze honoring Charlie Kirk, yet holds no regrets over the tribute. The farm, managed by Jeremy Goebel, received immediate criticism in the form of one-star reviews upon unveiling the design.
Goebel, a manager at the family-owned Global Farms, explained that the intention was never to be divisive. Instead, the goal was to commemorate Kirk’s advocacy for open debate and free speech. “We would absolutely do it again,” Goebel stated. He noted that the negative comments seem more directed at Kirk’s beliefs than at the farm.
“Unfortunately, the first day that we had announced it, people began giving us one-star reviews. Even some previous customers because they posted their photos with their one-star review,” said Goebel. “It was simply because they disagreed with the corn maze.”
Issues arose immediately, with Google temporarily closing the farm’s profile due to accusations of deceptive practices. This move followed complaints linked to the tribute.
The incident intensified with the unfortunate assassination of Charlie Kirk on September 10, 2025, at Utah Valley University during his “American Comeback Tour.” Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA, was shot while speaking.
Despite the criticism, Goebel observed that much of the feedback has been supportive. “I’ve heard from people worldwide, including Cape Town, South Africa, and Australia,” Goebel remarked. He emphasized that the aim was to remember Kirk, who lost his life advocating free speech.
Goebel observed, “Part of what makes America great is that we can challenge each other’s ideas and disagree. No one side has all the answers. We accomplish more as a society when we’re willing to listen to each other.”
Fox News Digital contacted Google for a statement on the issue.
