The WNBA will take a brief hiatus as players prepare for the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup. Before the break, the Indiana Fever faced the Connecticut Sun. The Fever entered the game eager to maintain their momentum following a commanding 113-90 win against the Chicago Sky.
Connecticut aimed to secure only their 11th win of the season. They showed strong early performance, leading 28-19 after the first quarter. This was a notable achievement especially playing away from home.

However, for both teams, the second quarter was pivotal. The Fever rebounded, outperforming Connecticut 39-15, and entered halftime leading 58-43. The game saw exciting performances, including a notable assist from Caitlin Clark to Kelsey Mitchell.
Clark recorded one of her 12 assists that night, contributing to Mitchell’s impressive 34-point game, which positioned Mitchell as the WNBA leader in total points. Both Clark and Mitchell achieved remarkable individual statistics with 34 points each, extending their record for 30-plus-point games as teammates in a single season to four.

The Fever ultimately secured a 111-91 victory over the Sun, setting a franchise record with 19 games scoring over 100 points in a season.
Indiana has four regular-season games remaining. After the FIBA World Cup break, their next match will be an away game against the Toronto Tempo on September 18.
