Indiana Fever Triumphs Over New York Liberty

Indiana Fever’s coach, Stephanie White, took center stage before the recent game. Once play began, her team made their mark. Guard Kelsey Mitchell excelled early, scoring 20 of her 28 points by halftime. Her teammate Caitlin Clark added 22 points and 10 assists, leading to a decisive 106-92 victory over the New York Liberty. This win marked the seventh victory in nine games for Indiana.

Kelsey Mitchell showed great accuracy, landing 11 of her 16 shots and netting four from beyond the arc. Caitlin Clark and Sophie Cunningham also scored four 3-pointers. Cunningham finished with 12 points, and Aliyah Boston contributed 19 points along with seven rebounds. The Fever’s strong performance continued with players like Tyasha Harris, Myisha Hines-Allen, and Sophie Cunningham making notable contributions.

On the opposing team, Breanna Stewart and Sabrina Ionescu each scored 19 points, while Jonquel Jones added 14 points and secured 10 rebounds.

In the third quarter, New York narrowed Indiana’s lead to 66-57. The Fever responded swiftly, with Mitchell completing a three-point play and Cunningham hitting a three-pointer, extending the lead to 87-67 going into the final period.

Coach White, before the game, addressed criticism regarding her defense of DiJonai Carrington’s foul on Cunningham. She emphasized focusing on basketball, dismissing the distractions around the sport. She spoke out against negativity, stating passionately, “Every day these women put their ass on the line. Every day when they go low, we go high. Love will win. Grace will win. Humility will win and kindness will win. I stand by them, I will always stand by them.” Following these remarks, White exited without fielding questions.
