Investigation Underway After Fatal Shooting at Morgan Hill Party

Sheriff’s detectives in Santa Clara County are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred during a large party in Morgan Hill on Saturday. The incident left one person dead and seven others injured, according to authorities.

Deputies received reports of disturbances around 10:15 p.m. These complaints involved intoxicated individuals on the street and someone throwing bottles at cars. Brooks Jarosz from the County of Santa Clara Sheriff’s Office confirmed these details in a statement.

When deputies arrived at the scene, they encountered chaos as over 300 people fled following the gunfire. Several individuals had been shot and required medical assistance. One victim was declared dead on-site. No suspects had been taken into custody immediately after the incident.

“This tragic and senseless violence is entirely unacceptable,” stated Sheriff Robert Jonsen. “Our hearts go out to the victim’s family, those recovering from their injuries, and everyone in our community affected by this traumatic event.”

The authorities noted that the event was an “unsanctioned party” promoted through social media channels. The investigation into this incident is ongoing as officials seek to piece together more details.
