Investigations Launched Following Viral Video of Off-Duty Officer Threatening Teens

The Chicago Police Department (CPD) alongside the Civilian Office of Police Accountability (COPA) has initiated investigations after a video surfaced online showing an off-duty CPD sergeant making aggressive threats toward teenagers and their families on the Southwest Side of Chicago.

Both the CPD and COPA confirmed the opening of inquiries into the incident, which involved a muscular, middle-aged man confronting a small group of teens. This confrontation was recorded and shared on social media by CWBChicago earlier in the week.

Sergeant Jeremy Sikorski has been identified as the officer involved in the incident. Following the emergence of the video, CPD has temporarily removed Sikorski’s police powers.

“I’ll knock your [expletive] ass out,” Sikorski is heard saying to one of the teen boys in the video. He continued, “Get your [expletive] parents over here. I’ll beat the [expletive] out of them and I’ll beat the [expletive] out of you.”

The video also shows Sikorski threatening the teenagers’ parents and knocking a phone from a girl who was recording the incident, which made her cry out in pain.

According to a CPD spokesperson, Sikorski has been reassigned to the Alternate Response Section as part of the ongoing internal investigation. COPA has affirmed they are conducting an independent probe into the matter as well.

Records from the city’s Office of Inspector General indicate that Sikorski has faced 22 misconduct allegations during his career, with two of these allegations resulting in disciplinary action.

Efforts to reach Sikorski for comment have been unsuccessful.
