The Iranian negotiating team is traveling to Switzerland to engage in discussions with the United States regarding their interim agreement concerning the conflict. Iranian state television reported this development, quoting a foreign ministry spokesperson on Saturday. Originally scheduled for Friday, the trip faced cancellation before being rescheduled.
This announcement closely followed the news from Iran’s joint military command, which stated the Strait of Hormuz had shut again. The cause cited was ongoing Israeli attacks in Lebanon. Esmail Bagahei, a foreign ministry spokesperson, emphasized on state television that the true test of any memorandum or deal arises during its implementation phase.
Meanwhile, the early phase of the US-Iran talks met obstacles. Among these, Vice President JD Vance remained at home as the discussions progressed. Furthermore, while the negotiations are underway, a temporary agreement between Israel and Hezbollah to pause hostilities has been reached, according to officials.
