Israeli President Isaac Herzog Criticizes NYC Mayor Mamdani’s Rhetoric and Discusses U.S.-Israel Relationship

Jerusalem, Israel: Israeli President Isaac Herzog shared concerns over New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s remarks during an exclusive interview with Fox News Digital. Herzog accused Mamdani of spreading dangerous rhetoric that could jeopardize the safety of New Yorkers.

“Mamdani does not respect my nation’s right for self-determination… the Jewish people’s inherent right to have a nation of their own,” Herzog stated.

This reaction follows Mamdani’s social media video where he labeled Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as a “war criminal” and accused him of genocide against Palestinians.

Herzog emphasized the deep connections between New York and Israel, voicing concerns over potential irreversible damage caused by Mamdani.

Turning to Iran, Herzog criticized its regime for posing a global threat by funding terrorism. He referred to Iran’s missile program and nuclear ambitions as significant dangers to U.S. interests.

Herzog praised former President Trump’s decisions, like relocating the U.S. embassy to Jerusalem, as profound support for Israel. He acknowledged Trump’s role in freeing hostages from Hamas and emphasized the ongoing bipartisan strength in U.S.-Israel relationships.

The decline in American support for Israel among youth stems from online misinformation, Herzog suggested, urging young Americans to visit Israel and see its innovations firsthand.

Recent political developments in the U.S., such as the passing of the defense policy bill, underscored the need for continued bipartisan dialogue, Herzog noted.

Herzog touched on the importance of Christian communities in Israel and the nation’s commitment to interfaith dialogue, aiming to prevent anti-Christian behavior.

Regarding the ICC’s dismissal of Chief Prosecutor Karim Khan, Herzog accused Khan of using arrest warrants against Israeli leaders as distractions from allegations against him.

“The case has to be dropped and the ICC should not fall into the trap of hate and lies,” Herzog asserted.

Herzog expressed optimism over efforts to advance peace between Israel and Hamas, hinging on a disarmament roadmap. He highlighted the importance of improving Gaza residents’ lives and preventing Hamas from using Gaza as a terror base.
