Oklahoma has dismissed Jahsiear Rogers, a true freshman wide receiver, from their football program. This decision was confirmed by team officials on Thursday and occurs just days before Oklahoma’s anticipated game against Texas in the Red River Rivalry in Dallas. The university has not revealed the reason behind Rogers’ removal, and he no longer appears on the team’s roster.
Jahsiear Rogers, previously ranked as a four-star recruit, came to Oklahoma from Appoquinimink High School in Wilmington, Delaware. The 5-foot-11, 180-pound athlete chose the Sooners over schools like Alabama, Nebraska, and Penn State. Despite his potential, through the first month of the 2026 season, Rogers participated in only six offensive plays without securing any catches.
The dismissal aligns with the culture that head coach Brent Venables has established in Norman. Venables has enforced strict program standards since assuming his role and maintains a no-tolerance policy for unmet expectations. Shortly after the news surfaced, former Oklahoma player and Sooner Radio Network analyst Gabe Ikard shared on ‘X’: ‘If you don’t treat the people that pour into the program with the respect they deserve… then there’s no place for you at Oklahoma.’
Rogers had an impact during the spring game, recording five catches for 70 yards. However, his contribution did not extend into the regular season, and his absence is unlikely to affect the team’s performance against Texas.
The move serves as a reminder of Coach Venables’ clear message: align with the program’s values or leave. This approach underscores Oklahoma’s commitment to maintaining discipline and respect within its ranks.
