Jets Anticipate Defensive Improvement Under Coach Aaron Glenn

The New York Jets aim for a stronger defensive performance under head coach Aaron Glenn in the 2026 NFL season. Fitzpatrick joined the Jets in March from the Miami Dolphins and signed a three-year, $40 million extension. He has already made an impression by intercepting a pass in Monday’s practice from quarterback Geno Smith; this marked the first interception during 11-on-11 drills in the camp. Fitzpatrick was drafted 11th overall by the Dolphins in 2018 and soon after traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers, where his career flourished. During his six seasons with the Steelers, he earned five Pro Bowl selections and three first-team All-Pro honors. In 2022, he led the league with six interceptions, amassing 96 tackles and 11 pass deflections. His career tally stands at 21 interceptions, placing him ninth in the league since 2018.
