Joan Collins Shares Tips on Aging Gracefully

Joan Collins, at 93, continues to enjoy a vibrant career while starring in “My Duchess.” She offers clear advice on aging gracefully, emphasizing the joy of life. “I love life,” she told The Independent. “I get up, breathe fresh air, ensure a good sleep, drink plenty of water, and maintain self-care.”

Collins confesses to needing a confidence boost and turns to classic films for inspiration. “I watch old movies,” she mentioned. “I prefer the films from the ’80s and ’90s, with actors like Jack Nicholson and Sarah Jessica Parker.”

In addition to watching films, Collins maintains her health through exercise. She stated to The Telegraph, “I work out with a trainer weekly, focusing on basic Pilates exercises.” Walking around her apartment while adjusting flowers also contributes to her routine, though she admits it may seem peculiar.

She attributes her longevity partially to genes, mentioning her father who lived to 87. Her mother ensured she and her sister took supplements, fostering health awareness early in life.

Collins also discusses finding love with her husband, Percy Gibson, who is 32 years younger. Married in 2002, Collins emphasizes, “We were friends before marriage.” This foundation has contributed to their enduring relationship.

Collins believes age is “just a number,” noting it is not too late to discover love. She asserts the importance of maintaining enthusiasm for life, as highlighted in her memoir “Behind the Shoulder Pads.”

Her zest for life stems from childhood activities, where she did multiple tasks simultaneously. “Life is a gift,” she states. “Many squander it, but it doesn’t last long.”

Her husband acknowledges her vitality, saying she can sometimes tire him out. Collins continues her engagement with life and all it offers.
