Gymnastics star Jordan Chiles has set her sights on the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles. The announcement comes from a video on Instagram, with basketball legend Michael Jordan lending his voice to narrate her message. In the video, Chiles shares, “LA 2028… WHY NOT?”
The video captures stunning views of the Southern California coastline, along with images of Chiles on the beach. Michael Jordan narrates, “Why again? Because the dream is still there. Why continue? Because there’s still more to give.”
Jordan Chiles, who is named after her NBA namesake, has a strong connection to Los Angeles. She attended UCLA, where she competed for the Bruins’ gymnastics team, winning four NCAA championships. In the Paris 2024 Olympics, she achieved a team gold medal with the U.S. team. However, she faced disappointment when an individual bronze medal was stripped due to a contentious decision, which she is currently appealing.
Chiles was also a key member of the U.S. team that secured a silver medal in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. She gained attention during this event by stepping in after Simone Biles withdrew from the finals to focus on mental health.
“When the world asks why she’s back for a third time, the answer’s simple,” Michael Jordan says in the announcement video. “Why not?” Chiles answers.
