Judge Dismisses Harassment Lawsuit Against Harvard

A U.S. District Judge in Massachusetts has dismissed a lawsuit against Harvard University regarding its alleged failure to protect Jewish and Israeli students from harassment. The lawsuit claimed that incidents of students being blocked from school buildings in 2023 and 2024, along with being forced to hide their traditional yarmulkes under baseball caps, showed non-compliance with federal law.

Judge Richard Stearns determined these incidents did not demonstrate a consistent pattern or policy. He described the events as ‘too isolated and episodic’ to substantiate the claims. The Justice Department had filed the lawsuit in March, seeking action against the university for not adequately safeguarding its students.

The ruling underscores the need for clear evidence of systemic issues when challenging institutions on grounds of discrimination or harassment.
