Judge Judy Sheindlin is set to retire from on-camera work, but her influence won’t fade. Sheindlin has involved her son, Adam Levy, in the television landscape through the show Adam’s Law, which she co-produced. The program starts airing in national syndication on Monday, September 14, as announced by Sheindlin’s representative.
Although retiring, Sheindlin is merely shifting focus. In an interview with People, the 83-year-old shared her intention to move away from television after concluding her Prime Video series Judy Justice in October. Sheindlin expressed interest in other pursuits, stating, “I have a lot of other things of interest. I don’t want to do hair and makeup anymore, but I still want my message to get out there.”
“There aren’t a lot of people who can carry a half hour on their own unscripted,” Sheindlin remarked about her son Levy’s talent, asserting, “He has what it takes.”
Adam Levy, a Hofstra Law School graduate, previously served as a ski instructor, entered private practice, and worked as the Putnam County District Attorney in New York. His journey into television began in 2023 with the Prime Video show Tribunal Justice.
Sheindlin’s impactful career began after graduating from New York Law School in 1965. She became a prosecutor handling juvenile crime and domestic violence cases in 1972. Her syndicated show Judge Judy aired for 25 seasons from 1996 to 2021, peaking with around 10 million viewers. Known for her straightforward manner and memorable remarks, Sheindlin left a mark through her television work.
In June 2021, Sheindlin shared with the LA Times how Judge Judy impacted women’s lives. Many viewers credited the show with encouraging them to take significant steps like leaving abusive relationships or negotiating for raises.
Sheindlin’s granddaughter, Sarah Rose, highlighted her grandmother’s advice in a 2022 Fox News Digital interview. She said, “You have to define yourself, and you tell other people who you are. Not the other way around.” This guidance emphasized confidence and self-definition, shaping Rose’s approach to life’s opportunities.
Despite her no-nonsense demeanor on TV, Sheindlin is a supportive family member. Sarah Rose acknowledged this, stating, “She’s a fantastic problem solver, especially for the ones that she loves.”
