EAGAN, Minn. — Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kyler Murray has been cleared from the NFL concussion protocol. He will return for this week’s game at Tampa Bay. Vikings coach Kevin O’Connell confirmed Murray’s return to the starting lineup against the Buccaneers. Murray had been sidelined after suffering a concussion in the season opener against the Green Bay Packers.
Murray’s debut for the Vikings on September 13 was cut short after only 11 plays. A hit from Packers safety Javon Bullard forced him out of the game. Carson Wentz took over in Murray’s absence and led the team to victory over the Packers with a final score of 39-22.
In Murray’s absence, Wentz also played in the game against the Chicago Bears, helping secure a 9-3 win. Over the two games in which he stepped in, Wentz completed 23 of 39 passes for 276 yards and three touchdowns. He was sacked six times but managed to avoid any turnovers.
Regarding the Chicago Bears, their quarterback Caleb Williams avoided a major hamstring injury, as reports suggest. The Bears have challenges ahead, regardless of Williams’ status, as highlighted in Brad Biggs’ analysis of Week 2.
