Lainey Wilson and her newlywed husband Duck Hodges are enjoying their early days of married life, sharing public moments that showcase their bond. The couple made their debut as husband and wife at the 61st Academy of Country Music Awards in Las Vegas, where Wilson was up for seven nominations.
While talking to Fox News Digital on the red carpet, Wilson and Hodges completed each other’s thoughts as they reminisced about their wedding week and adapting to marriage.
“It’s crazy. It really is crazy. Getting to call you my husband,” Wilson remarked as Hodges smiled.
“I don’t think it’s sunk in yet,” Hodges replied.
Wilson noted that while the wedding was recent, it marked a new chapter in their lives with Hodges echoing the sentiment. Their chemistry was evident as they shared reflections on a personal wedding in Tennessee, revealing a deeply emotional moment for Wilson.
The singer associated seeing herself fully dressed as a bride as an emotional highlight.
“Him seeing me in a dress for the first time,” Wilson shared with a laugh. “That was it.”
Wilson spoke about the significance of sharing the moment with friends and family, emphasizing the joy and excitement of the event.
The couple’s wedding took place on May 10 at The Ruskin Cave in Dickson, Tennessee. The venue was selected serendipitously during a drive through Tennessee, leading to an event that integrated elements meaningful to Wilson and Hodges.
“Duck and I were driving backroads in Tennessee and saw a billboard for The Ruskin Cave,” Wilson told Vogue. Hodges suggested they marry there, to which Wilson agreed immediately.
The natural beauty of the cave and a relaxed setting made it an ideal choice. Wilson described the scenic atmosphere, complete with water sounds and birdsong while arriving in a horse-drawn carriage.
The ceremony reflected Wilson’s Louisiana heritage, creating a welcoming and laid-back experience for guests.
“We wanted it to be special and beautiful, but really welcoming and comfortable for our guests,” Wilson explained. The celebration included a Cajun-inspired menu and a jazz band leading a New Orleans-style festivity post-ceremony.
Wilson adorned a custom Oscar de la Renta gown featuring cherry blossoms, representing living in the moment. Hodges embraced Western style with a dark green suit and signature accessories.
Vogue shared that the couple privately read personal vows to each other before the ceremony.
“I have never seen Duck smile as big as he did then,” Wilson shared. The private moment reinforced their commitment to each other, leading to the anticipation of saying ‘I do.’”
The day concluded with a dance to Muscadine Bloodline’s song and a sparkler sendoff in an old Ford truck. Their partnership stems from a blind date in Nashville, set up by mutual friends. Their relationship flourished, culminating in Hodges proposing at George Jones’s former estate years later.
At the ACM Awards, the couple celebrated milestones, having first appeared together two years prior. Their journey continues as Wilson balances her career and personal life with Hodges by her side.
