Lauren Boebert Supports Her Son Amid Charges

Colorado Representative Lauren Boebert expressed support for her son on Monday following his arrest on charges of sexually exploiting a child. Tyler J. Boebert, 21, was detained in Garfield County, Colorado, and faces five felony counts, including sexual exploitation of a child through inducement or enticement, as well as contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Lauren Boebert issued a statement through Newsweek, stating, “I love my son. We take these allegations very seriously and pray for everyone affected during this challenging time.”

The incident allegedly occurred in early 2024, but specific details of the accusations were not immediately available. An unredacted affidavit is expected within a few days, according to Garfield County Clerk of Court officials.

Court documents accessed by Newsweek reveal that Tyler Boebert was arrested on Sunday by the Garfield County Sheriff’s Office. He was subsequently released after posting a $10,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on August 19.

Joseph Gavaldon, a previous attorney for Tyler Boebert on other charges, did not respond to Newsweek’s request for comment. Attempts to contact Boebert directly also failed.

The current charges add to Tyler Boebert’s legal challenges. Previously, he faced a misdemeanor child abuse charge in February, after his 2-year-old son wandered away from home. Lauren Boebert remarked to 9NEWS, “A kind woman quickly and safely secured him, and authorities were called as a precaution.”

In February 2024, the congresswoman commented to The Denver Post about her son’s ongoing public challenges, stating, “I love my son Tyler, who has been through some very difficult, public challenges for a young man and the subject of attention that he didn’t ask for. It breaks my heart to see my child struggling and in this situation, especially when he has been provided multiple opportunities to get his life on track. I will never give up on him and I will continue to be there for him.”

Tyler Boebert had previously pleaded guilty to attempted identity theft and was reportedly placed on probation. Lauren Boebert, who represents Colorado’s 4th congressional district, is a mother of four boys: Tyler, Brody, Kayden, and Roman. She ended her 17-year marriage to Jayson Boebert in late 2023. Her only grandchild, Tyler’s son, was born earlier last year.
