Levi Wallace Retires from NFL at 31 After Eight-Year Career

Levi Wallace, 31, has retired from his NFL career spanning eight years. He entered the league as an undrafted free agent after playing college football at Alabama.

Wallace played his last NFL season with the Jacksonville Jaguars but was on injured reserve for the year, not participating in any games. His last active game was with the Denver Broncos in 2024. He announced his retirement on Instagram with the message, ‘Walk-on. Undrafted. 8 years. Retired.’

Not bad. Wallace’s journey as an underdog began when he joined the Alabama football team in 2014 as a walk-on. He played on the scout team for two years before earning a scholarship in 2016. By 2017, he became a crucial starter for Alabama’s defense during their National Championship-winning season, contributing significantly with 48 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, three interceptions, and a conference-leading 15 pass breakups.

Wallace went undrafted out of Alabama but signed with the Buffalo Bills. He earned a starting position as a rookie, starting seven games. Over his four years with the Bills, Wallace was a consistent starter, making 219 tackles and securing six interceptions.

After his stint with the Bills, Wallace signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers. In Pittsburgh, he started 18 of 31 games over two seasons and collected six interceptions, maintaining his reputation for intercepting passes.

In Wallace’s last season with Denver, he started two of 13 games, making 28 tackles. Across his 96 career games, Wallace accumulated 333 tackles, 56 pass deflections, and 12 interceptions.
