Lionel Richie recently expressed gratitude to his fans for their support following a health scare that led to the cancellation of several concerts. At 77 years old, Richie shared upbeat images from his performances on Instagram, showing him smiling and engaging with the audience. He wrote, “Thank you for every message, every kind word, and for all your love. I’m doing well, and I’m grateful for all of you.”
Richie’s energy was evident as he relished the experiences in Pittsburgh and Detroit, describing them as joyful events filled with dancing and lively crowds. His enthusiasm was palpable when he added, “See you in Toronto… let’s party all night long!”
A week earlier, Richie had to postpone scheduled shows after feeling dizzy during his tour-opener in Minnesota. At the time, the United Center announced that his performances in Chicago and Columbus, Ohio, were cancelled based on doctors’ advice. “Under advisement by doctors to rest and return to full health, Lionel Richie has postponed his next two shows,” stated the Instagram post. Richie expressed his disappointment, saying he was heartbroken over the cancellations but eagerly anticipated returning to the stage.
A public information officer from the St. Paul Fire Department confirmed that an individual was taken from the Grand Casino Arena to a local hospital on June 24, 2026. No details about Richie’s health issue have been disclosed. However, Richie reassured fans, thanking them and expressing optimism for his upcoming performances.
During his concert at the Grand Casino Arena, Richie was nearly an hour into his set when fans noticed something amiss. While performing “Dancing on the Ceiling,” Richie took a break and humorously mentioned feeling lightheaded. According to the Minnesota Star Tribune, he remarked, “When you’re feeling dizzy, sit your a– down,” before transitioning to a seated piano performance of “Three Times a Lady.”
Fans anticipated a short intermission, but after a 40-minute wait, they received news of the show’s cancellation. Despite this setback, Richie’s recent social media updates indicate he is on the mend and eager to reconnect with his audience soon.
