Former Disney star Maitland Ward has expressed dissatisfaction with the portrayal of an OnlyFans model by Sydney Sweeney in the third season of Euphoria. Ward, a former Boy Meets World star and current adult film actress and OnlyFans creator, voiced her concerns in an interview with TMZ.
Ward criticized a scene featuring Sweeney’s character, Cassie, in which she appears with a pacifier, pigtails, and sheer clothing. Ward found the portrayal disturbing, emphasizing the misuse of themes related to childlike behavior. She stated, “There’s all sorts of stuff that you can’t do. The whole child-baby thing is so disgusting.”
Ward highlighted that these depictions violate OnlyFans guidelines designed to prevent association with inappropriate content. She said, “you don’t want pedophilia anywhere near pornography,” stressing that breaking these rules could lead to removal from the platform.
The third season of Euphoria shows Cassie turning to OnlyFans to support herself after discovering her husband’s financial troubles. Scenes depict her engaging in varied activities for her subscribers, which Ward decried as a misrepresentation of OnlyFans creators.
Ward argued that the show mocks creators rather than celebrating them. She noted that many creators work hard to build their brands, and the show’s depiction is “disingenuous.” Ward stated, “This show is treating sex work like a circus act, a freak show.”
Ward expressed concern that such portrayals encourage harmful stereotypes about sex workers. She emphasized the stereotype of the “traditional blonde, boobie-bimbo” used in the narrative, arguing it undermines the real lives and choices of sex workers.
She further recounted her experience as a young actress in Hollywood, describing studios’ efforts to mold young actors. Ward shared her story on an episode of Investigation Discovery’s Hollywood Demons, discussing her growth and experiences in the industry.
Ward, now an established adult film star, highlighted her positive reception in Hollywood following her transition to the adult industry. She noted, “I really got a lot of positivity overall,” expressing surprise at the encouragement she received in her new career.
Lori Bashian, an entertainment writer for Fox News Digital, reported on these statements and the broader discussion surrounding the portrayal of sex work in television.
