Maitland Ward, known for her roles in ‘The Bold and the Beautiful’ and ‘Boy Meets World,’ shared feelings of betrayal by her former co-stars Danielle Fishel, Ryder Strong, and Will Friedle during an exclusive interview with Fox News Digital. This comes over a year since a heated exchange occurred on the ‘Pod Meets World’ podcast.
Ward explained her current relationship with the co-stars, stating, “We have not spoken at all. There’s been no contact, except when I offered my support for Fishel during her ‘Dancing with the Stars’ run. There’s been no ill will either. It’s just that we’re in a place where we are not connected right now, and it’s sad.”
During the podcast episode, hosts Fishel, Strong, and Friedle invited Ward to share her experiences on the show. However, tensions rose when Fishel inquired if Ward harbored any animosity towards them. Ward responded, “No, I do not hate you. I think that you hate me because you wouldn’t speak to me on ‘Girl Meets World,’ and that was hurtful.” She added, “There was some beef between us, and I didn’t get it.”
Fishel acknowledged that the set of ‘Girl Meets World’ was challenging. She said, “Let’s put it this way, the memories we have of ‘Boy Meets World’ were not the memories of ‘Girl Meets World.’ It was a rather tumultuous place.”
The conversation escalated as Ward accused the podcast hosts of using her appearance to boost ratings. Fishel countered, suggesting Ward sought publicity through the conflict.
Ward expressed feeling “bullied” during the podcast, claiming it was “three against one, really four because [Fishel’s] husband is the producer.” She recounted, “It felt like stepping back into high school, surrounded by past grievances.” She denied creating conflict, instead asserting that Fishel aimed for controversy to gain attention for the podcast.
Despite the lack of interaction with her former co-stars, Ward had publicly supported Fishel during her ‘DWTS’ participation. “It really was a genuine moment,” Ward said, expressing her support for women pursuing their passions.
Ward concluded, acknowledging the strange year and unresolved tensions. “It’s sad that we are not friends or can’t come together, but I’m still going to support her.” She emphasized their enduring connection as a ‘family,’ stating, “No matter what, we are always going to be connected in this way that can never split us apart.”
