Mayor Attends NBA Finals Using House Ticket Access
Mayor Zohran Mamdani paid approximately $1,000 for a standing-room-only ticket to Game 3 of the NBA finals. These tickets are part of a reserve for V.I.P.s and those with connections.
The event took place at Madison Square Garden. Mayor Mamdani chose not to sit in celebrity row or near President Trump, who was present in a secure area. Instead, he opted for a spot above the nosebleed seats.
By purchasing his ticket, Mayor Mamdani adhered to city rules against receiving gifts as an elected official. He made it clear that he intended to pay his own way to the game.
The mayor attended the event with some of his former colleagues from the State Legislature, watching the Knicks’ Game 3 loss. The game was part of the NBA finals.
Acquiring such tickets through a reserved pool highlights a common practice at major sports and cultural events across the nation. These tickets are often set aside for prominent individuals and those with connections.
