Vigar reflects on the couple’s royal tour in his book, highlighting the tensions that arose. He suggests that the differences in expectations between Meghan and royal aides affected her tenure. According to Vigar, Meghan, accustomed to tight control as an actress, found royal duties less controlled. Reports indicate that her Hollywood approach conflicted with monarchical public service.

“There was a culture clash there,” Vigar noted. “Egos obstructed harmony on both sides. Meghan hoped for more control over public events, which wasn’t the case.”

Harry and Meghan combined well with the public. Vigar recalls their successful interactions during their first engagements. However, incidents like the shortened visit to Suva Market in Fiji showed early signs of issues. The visit, planned to highlight women’s economic empowerment, ended abruptly. Official reasons for the cut short visit varied, with Team Sussex citing safety.

During the royal tour in 2018, Meghans’ first pregnancy was announced, revealing the significant pressures she faced. The couple was involved in numerous engagements, straining Meghan’s role. Her pregnancy was formally confirmed by the palace in October 2018.

Vigar asserts that Meghan joined not just a royal family but also an institution with unique traditions and a small press team compared to Hollywood. Hollywood publicists handle appearances and publicity differently than royal aides, affecting Meghan’s adaptation.

“The press team at Kensington Palace is small,” Vigar explained. “They must manage royal affairs, which makes their task challenging.”

Vigar also points out that other royal family members like Catherine and Camilla were more familiar with royal customs, intensifying contrast with Meghan.

Reports suggest that several palace staff quit during Harry and Meghan’s time as working royals. Some former aides accused Meghan of bullying behavior, allegations she denied.
